About
This is an artist collaboration with Emma Hinton and Yoko Inishi.
Emma Hinton -The Light Library-
(Ngāti Maniapoto) is an experienced storyteller, facilitator and celebrant based in Waitakere.
Emma founded The Light Library, where she curates workshops and books, and is the publisher of 'Finding Grace / Kimihia a Grace', a bilingual picture book.
She is passionate about the power of storytelling to shape our future and well-being.
Yoko Onishi
is a micro-macramé artist born and raised in Japan, where she developed a deep appreciation for traditional culture and handmade crafts inspired by nature.
She discovered macramé, one of the oldest crafts in the world, and teaches children and adults how to create beautiful macramé pieces.
Yoko’s work blends macramé techniques with the natural beauty of crystals, capturing the harmony between human creation and the natural world.
Supported by the Creative Communities Scheme
27 Breaths: A Mala Bracelet Journey
All Materials and tools are provided by Yoko. Join us for a calm and meditative creative experience where you’ll design your own unique 27-bead Mala bracelet. Guided through the gentle process of selecting your crystal beads, stringing, and knotting, you’ll create a meaningful piece that reflects your personal intention. Making Mala beads is a soothing and mindful practice — each knot and bead becomes a breath, a pause, a moment of presence. Traditionally, Mala beads are used to support meditation and mantra practice, and are also cherished as symbols of protection, healing, and balance. Take this time to slow down, connect with your inner calm, and craft a piece that carries your energy and intention.
